Adams Martial Arts

Escrima is a word like “karate”  or “kung fu,” a word that describes a broad style of martial art.  It means “skirmish; to engage in combat,” and is the Filipino martial art of stick and sword fighting.  Oftentimes is is also called Arnis, from the Spanish, meaning “harness of the hand” or Kali, perhaps from the Filipino for “sword.”

Our system of escrima, Advincula's Combat Escrima, was founded by Sensei AJ Advincula, who began studying escrima in 1946 and Isshinryu in 1958.  Because of his knowledge of combat, Advincula was chosen to develop the martial arts training program adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps.

Sensei Adams, double-certified, studies under Sensei Advincula through instructor Lindi Belt, fourth degree black belt.
